Event Description
The United Nations has stated that: ‘Climate Change is the defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. From shifting
weather patterns that threaten food production, to rising sea levels that increase the risk of catastrophic flooding, the impacts of climate change are global in scope and unprecedented in scale.’
Whilst there remains considerable uncertainty about the timing, nature, and magnitude of the impacts of climate change there is broad-based agreement that actions we take now can mitigate and delay them – or our inaction could assure or accelerate these effects, and make adapting to the impacts of climate change in the future more difficult and costly.
Let us hear from Sarah, an Actuary at the Government Actuary's Department (GAD) on her insights on the topic of 'The Actuarial Profession and Climate Change'.
